Hello Highcroft Husky Families!
Wow! I can't believe I am beginning my 19th year at Highcroft, which means I am an "original" Husky! This will be my 44th year as an educator. I began my journey at Highcroft in 2004 as a fourth grade teacher then, excitedly, moving to the school library media center in 2006. Prior to Highcroft, I have many, many, many years of experience as a teacher-librarian and classroom teacher where I served in private, parochial, and public school settings. I even taught adults for one year to help them prepare for their GED. I always knew I wanted to become a teacher, but never thought I would be a school librarian who teaches every student in the school!
When I was in elementary school I didn't like to read, but I learned I was a reluctant reader and needed to find the right type of books that motivated me to read. I am so glad I developed a love of reading! Now I want to share as many great books with students as I possibly can while integrating technology with a purpose. In my position at Highcroft, I am able to do what I love most; bring books and students together and, hopefully, instill a lifelong love of reading and learning.
On a personal note, I am married and have three adult children and two son-in-laws. I am also a grandmother to Ava, and Jack.
In my "spare" time I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling whenever and wherever I can go!
Wishing you a successful year of learning, exploring, wondering, and of course, READING!
